Denise Ann Handy-Burnham, R.N., M.S.N., A.P.N.-C

 Ms Handy was the first Nurse Practitioner to become a member of the department of Surgery at Monmouth Medical Center and to be credentialed at Ocean County Medical Center. Prior to joining Atlantic Surgical Group as a Nurse Practitioner in 1998, Ms Handy has 15 years nursing experience including holding various positions from operating room nurse, Manager of the Emergency Department, ER staff/charge nurse, Surgical coordinator of the ER.
Since Joining Atlantic Surgical Group, Ms Handy has gained expertise in wound care and managing all aspects of the Bariatric patients. Her latest area of focus has been with topical hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
After graduating from the University of South Carolina with honors, Ms Handy attended Columbia University in New York. Ms Handy obtained her masters degrees with honors in critical/emergency care and nursing. She then pursued her advanced certificate in acute care and family health. Her certifications are as an acute care and family health nurse practitioner. Denise has been appointed to Who's Who Among Executive and Professional Women in Healthcare. Ms Handy is board certified by the ANCC and is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the American College of Nurse Practitioners, and the International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma Theta Tau).
